FLORENCE BLACK
Achieved A*, 2As and EPQ A*
Reading Biochemistry at the
University of Bristol.
“I was very happy with my grades. At Seaford, each student is
seen as an individual, and the staff want to make that individual
the best person that they can be. And there's a few things outside
the class that have helped me become that person, especially
being part of the musicals and the performing arts department.
Being in a musical helps you to make friends in other years and
teaches you how to be organised. I love science, but it didn’t
define me, because I also love music, and I was able to do sport.
I love Seaford because, when you don't do so well, the teachers
help you to do better. But when you do well, they also help you to
celebrate that.”

HARRY CHAPMAN
Achieved A* and 2 As
Heading off to read History
at the University of Exeter.
“I joined Seaford in Year 12. I wasn’t enjoying my previous school, and I didn't
want to go to school. I wanted to be at a friendlier place, which would make me
want to be there and work harder. Seaford was so inviting to join – it felt so
easy to be a part of the culture and community. It was like a breath of fresh air,
and I already miss being here so much.
Because you’re here for the school day in Sixth Form, not just being around for
lessons, you have time to socialise and do things like play tennis and golf or go
to the gym.
I loved all of my teachers. They would always help you, even out of lessons. If
you wanted to do extra work, they would mark it. It felt like you always had
someone watching out for you.
I love Seaford because it made me love to learn – it was the atmosphere, and
the perfect mix of learning and socialising.”

“I have loved Seaford – it’s been quite a journey over the past two years. I’m
dyslexic and struggled at my previous school, but Seaford really helped me when
I joined in Sixth Form. So many teachers, from academic support to sports teachers
to the headmaster, looked out for me, and I always knew that support would
continue.
I really thrived doing my BTECs, which were more about coursework, but I also did
well in exams because they’re more broken down and because of the support I had.
I was a boarder at Seaford and that really helped with feeling independent and
figuring things out for myself, and employers like that. And my rugby has taught
me how to be a team player. The sports teachers here are so passionate about what
they do, and they push you to be your best. We also had amazing rugby tours to
Wales and Italy.
I love Seaford because it’s supported me whenever I needed it and helped me to
achieve everything I wanted to achieve.”

“There’s a richness to what
Seaford provides, and Flo took on
a lot of what it has to offer.
Seaford is all about winning well,
not just winning at all costs – it’s
about performance, and pushing yourself as far as you can go, and enjoying it as you do
it. For Flo, no matter how busy she was, she always came home with a smile.
Weekly boarding also helped. Flo could just focus Monday to Friday, be with friends, do
her music and sport, and then have the time in the boarding house just to pause, and
then come home at weekends. Seaford being non-selective also brings a diversity and
inclusion to school life. And that’s very important as you go to university and out into the
broader world.
We love Seaford because it achieves excellence with a very supportive, strong culture that’s
led from the top. And you can feel that percolating through the whole organisation.”

IZZY ASHBY
Achieved Distinction*, 2 Cs and EPQ A
Heading off to study Agriculture at Massey
or Lincoln in New Zealand or
Hartpury University in the UK.
“I joined Seaford in the Sixth Form as a boarder, and I’m very glad I did. It
helped me with my grades, especially in Year 13, but also it was great to
always have a quiet place to come back to, and to ask for help if I needed it. I
love the grounds, and it was the perfect place to study Countryside
Management. I plan to work in agriculture in the future.
Seaford is a unique school, partly because of the location and partly the
teachers. They are so nice. My sister is in Prep School here, and she can’t stop
going on about how good they are. They really look out for you – it’s a real
community.
It was also good to have a clear revision plan for the exams, when we weren’t
allowed to use phones and had extra-long prep time.
I love Seaford because I was quite shy, and it helped me find myself again and
become more confident.”

“When I first came to Seaford to have a chat with John Green, the Headmaster, I
knew it was going to be a great school for Izzy. It was the nurturing atmosphere
that came across, and Izzy has just grown in confidence.
Izzy wasn’t sure about whether she wanted to board at first, but it’s been great
for her because it’s given her the space to come back to. And Seaford has such
lovely grounds, and the staff have been so nice.
I love Seaford because it's really helped Izzy to grow into the person that I knew
she could be and become the young, mature adult that she is.”
