GCSE French
French still holds an important place in our culture with France being one of our
nearest neighbours. What is not to love about holidays in Provence and visits to
the local markets, trips across the Channel for weekends away and shopping
opportunities, and visits to Paris for art, culture and fashion?
A foreign language is one of those skills that everybody wishes they had
mastered. It is certainly something that will stay with you for the rest of your life
and will prove to be useful on that gap year, on holiday and hoping to chat up
that young person, or when dealing with a customer at work and thus really
impressing your boss.
Apart from the practical use for communication, you will learn a little about the
music, the literature, the geography and generally just what it is that makes
our European neighbours tick. Another benefit of foreign language learning is
that it helps you gain a better awareness of your own language. It is a wonderful
opportunity; don’t throw it away!

“I think French GCSE is a great subject to choose because it
is so enjoyable. In lessons there are loads of opportunities to
develop your speaking skills with your friends, and it helps
you learn about the language. I love French because it’s so
good to be able to learn a new language and I like how the
lessons set you up for learning French fully if you want to go
on to do that, not just pass an exam.”
