Your success
Tracked and personalised
At Seaford College, we provide an all-round education that enables students to develop the high self-esteem essential for success in not only the academic curriculum but also our extensive co-curricular provision.
We aim for all students to achieve their personal bests in every activity with which
they engage. In the academic curriculum, we believe that effective teaching in lessons and targeted prep (homework) enables students to achieve this aim in all curriculum subjects.
We recognise that each student is at the heart of the process and that inspiring each individual to aspire to be the very best they can possibly be is the key to a student ‘reaching their potential’.
Challenge Grades are
at the heart of our academic reporting framework to ensure that students achieve their academic personal bests.
Challenge Grades are a measure of a student’s potential and track their academic progress – reported to students and parents through termly Academic Reports.
Each subject sets Challenge Grades which is realistic yet ambitious targets for students to achieve at the end of the course. These are not predicted grades but what a student could achieve with hard work and commitment in that subject.
Progress against Challenge Grades are reported using colours which indicate if a student is on track or not. If a student is working at a level that puts them on track to achieving their Challenge Grade by the end of the course, they will be awarded
a Green. Platinum and Gold indicate impressive attainment and progress while a Yellow indicates they are slightly off track and will be supported and monitored by their tutor and teacher. A Red indicates that intervention and positive support are required with the support of the form tutor and Head of Year.
At any time, a parent, student or teacher can view termly Academic Reports on Firefly as well as contact their form tutor or teachers if they have any questions or require additional support. Challenge Grades are reviewed termly and teachers often increase them if students appear to be on track to surpassing it.
