What is the key to academic success in Year 10 and 11?
A positive attitude to learning is key to success in Year 10 and 11 and is reported using our ‘Ad Alta characteristics for developing independence’ in learning. To achieve their academic personal bests, students should always be:
• Prepared: Ready, on time and with the right equipment to learn
• Focussed: Engage fully without distraction to self and/or others
• Collaborative: Respectful and supportive of others in learning together
• Resilient: Doesn’t give up, takes risks and learns through setbacks
• Ambitious: Goes above and beyond to achieve their personal best
These characteristics are scored by subject teachers and reported in students’ Academic Reports.

“We are proud to offer an inclusive environment where each individual is known and valued; is given attention and respect. Challenge Grades are, essentially, a measure of potential. It’s what we think a child can achieve if they work hard. Challenge Grades are ambitious but realistic.”
John Green, Headmaster 5
