Chapter News From the Chapter President he Kappa Kappa chapter of Sigma TChi is off to a great start to the 2014- 15 school year, and I’m thrilled to be at the helm this semester. I’m blessed and excited to be given this opportunity to lead a group of outstanding individuals all of which I am lucky enough to call my best friends. We began the year by welcoming a Sigma Chi from the University of Texas-Austin who transferred here this school year and has found a new home in the Kappa Kappa chapter. Several members of the class of 2017 having fun at Joe’s with the ladies of Delta Gamma. This year’s recruitment process was a huge success, and we are in the process of welcoming 33 new members into our brotherhood. The pledge class of 2018 includes students from New many brothers studying abroad in a variety of countries including Spain, Zealand, South Africa, and Istanbul as well as a freshman on the Division Italy, Norway, and Australia. The chapter will miss these brothers, but 1 wrestling team. Our chapter also boasts 6 starters on the Division 1 are looking forward to receiving them with welcome hands and warm Club Soccer Team that recently went to the National Tournament in hearts upon their return. Lastly I’d like to say it’s been an absolute Memphis, T N t h e weekend of November 21st. This year’s Derby pleasure leading the chapter through the school year this far, and I look Days successfully raised over $12,000 for Children’s Miracle Network forward to a strong end to the semester. and Testicular Cancer Research. IHSV, Recently our chapter was again able to hold the maximum of two ΣΧ positions on the Interfraternity Council Executive Board. Alex Schnepf ’16 and Ryan Smith ’17 won their elections for Vice President of Standards and Risk Management, respectively. This spring we have Rob Voirin Homecoming 2014 his year’s Homecoming Tfestivities kicked off with very productive joint meeting between the undergraduate chapter and the current Housing Corporation President, Peter Steger ’79. After the meeting we all were fortunate enough to see a thrilling come from behind win for our Illini. In the end Illinois topped Minnesota 28-24 scoring with 6:33 left in the 4th quarter on a fumble recovery by V’Angelo Bentley returned for 6 points. After the game the house was open for alumni of all ages to stop by and meet the undergraduates as well as the newest pledge class of 2018. Much of the afternoon was spent reminiscing with recent alumni while enjoying food and drink. The undergraduates of the Kappa Kappa chapter look forward to having another successful Homecoming next year! 2
