knowing my work impacts the life of society
on a daily basis. Working for SDG&E, I will
be a responsible member of maintaining the
reliability of the electric grid, as well as
provide reliable service to our customers.
How did you get your internship with SDG&E?
In order to get my internship, I built my
resume up with leadership positions, research
jobs, and other awards and scholarships.
I also took classes that focused in Power and
Energy systems. I interned for SDG&E in
summer 2015, and I was offered a position as
an Associate Engineer upon graduation. As an
Associate Engineer, I will have three, six-month
rotational assignments in different departments
within the company. Gaining this experience
allowed me to serve as the Leadership Chair
for Sigma. I was able to serve as a professional
liaison to the chapter and encouraged fellow
sisters to be involved on campus and seek
career-building opportunities.
Any fun plans before you begin your new job
after graduation?
My boyfriend and I are spending 5 weeks
backpacking through Europe. We are spending
about 2-3 days in each city, staying in hostels,
Πand living out of one backpack each. I’ve
never been to Europe before, so I am very
excited to have this one-of-a-kind, life-
changing experience! Our route includes:
Dublin, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Stockholm,
Amsterdam, Lisbon, Lagos, Madrid, Valencia,
Barcelona, Toulouse, Rome, Venice, Split,
Athens, Santorini, Prague, and Vienna!
Afterwards I will be moving home to San
Diego and starting my full-time job.

Chapter Eternal
Anna Holacher Robertson
’42 passed away on July 27,
2015, and her husband, Thomas
M. Robertson, followed shortly
after on September 20, 2015.
Anna and Tom were married
for 71 years! Both were 1943
graduates of the University
of Illinois. Upon graduation,
Tom was commissioned as an
Officer in the US Army Signal
Corps during WWII. Following
his discharge from the Army in
1946, Tom went on to have a 40-year career in the defense industry for undersea
warfare system development. Throughout Tom’s career, Ann was by his side.
With her creative talents for fashion design and sewing, she taught adult education
classes on sewing, as well as made all her clothes for her daughters and herself.
A gourmet cook, she planned and prepared many dinner and cocktail parties for
family and friends. After her children had left home, Ann went back to work at
Marriott Corporation as an administrative assistant. In their spare time, Tom and
Ann enjoyed ballroom dancing, genealogy, and spending time with family. Anna,
you will be missed, but never forgotten by your Sigma sisters.
