We are saddened to have learned of the passing of the following Beta Brother. Our sympathies to his family and friends.

Oscar Herman Lewis ’43 (1921-2016)

Oscar Herman Lewis passed away in April of this year at the In the Alumni Spotlight written about him
age of 95. Known as Herman to his friends, he graduated from which appeared in the summer 2010, edition
UF in 1943 during World War II, and was commissioned in of Marching Along, he attributed much of
the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant due to his participation his success in business and in life to lessons
in ROTC while in college. Herman served with distinction he learned as an undergraduate member of
in Europe during the war, receiving both the Silver Star and Purple Heart Beta Theta Pi. He wanted to give back to the fraternity, so he made a very
