Butterfly Facts to share:
Butterflies are insects, which means they have six legs, a set of antennae, and three parts to their body (the head, thorax, and abdomen). Butterflies also have four wings. Butterflies drink liquids like nectar, juice, and water, which they sip through a proboscis (“pro-baah-sis”), a mouthpart that looks like a straw and curls up when it’s not in use.

There are about 24,000 species of butterflies

Butterflies cannot fly when it is cold outside. They are cold-blooded animals and their body temperature matches their surrounding environment. Sensors in their antennae help them measure the air temperature, so they know when it’s time to migrate to warmer climates or go into hibernation.
