Meet Our Radiologists
Marina Ivančić, DVM, DACVR is the staff veterinary
radiologist for the Chicago Zoological Society at Brookfield
Zoo. She completed her veterinary degree at the University
of California, Davis. Following an internship in small animal
medicine, surgery, and radiology, she completed a veterinary
radiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. She
has been a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary
Radiology (ACVR) since 2008.
Dr. Ivančić has spent much of her professional career devoted to
advancing veterinary radiology in marine mammals. In 2008,
she founded AquaVetRad, an international radiology consulting
service for aquatic animals, and has worked as the veterinary
radiologist for the National Marine Mammal Foundation and U.S.
Navy Marine Mammal Program since 2011. She is the author of
numerous scientific publications and is a prolific presenter at
international conferences. In 2016, she relocated to Chicago
to join CZS in launching its Radiology Consulting Service.
Marina’s passion for animals grew from encounters with dolphins
and other animals under professional care. Years later, as a
veterinary student, she spent two summers volunteering with
the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program. These experiences
defined her ultimate professional goal of using medical imaging
as a tool to enhance the well-being of animals in human care
and conservation of animals in the wild.
