Animal: Crocodile
Why? I watched Steve Irwin* on TV. He was
“The Crocodile Hunter” from Australia. Crocodiles
are cold-blooded creatures. They have sharp teeth and
eat meat and other animals. And they live everywhere—
in Mexico and many other countries. They have scales
that look really rough. I like the Zoo’s African dwarf
crocodiles.
*The late Steve Irwin was a television personality and
a wildlife educator who was especially famous for his
expertise in capturing crocodiles.

Animal: Penguin
Why? I’ve met the penguins at
Brookfield Zoo many times during
behind-the-scenes tours. They are
not boring and make lots of noise.
They are playful and fast in the
water. They always want to be
together—they swim together,
they’re synchronized. They mate
for life and they’re good parents.
