LOCATION: Hamill Family Wild Encounters

When a breeze blows through Hamill Family Wild Encounters,
three colorful sculptures come to life, enchanting adults and
children alike. The sculptures—each atop a tall stem-like base—
spin like pinwheel toys. They are fabricated from a variety of
materials, including hewn metal, glass, and cable. Our goats have
the best view.
The kinetic sculptures were commissioned by the Chicago
Zoological Society Women’s Board. The work of Seattle-based
artist Andrew Carson of WindSculpture can be found all over
the world.

The contributions of many generous individuals and groups
over the years made the display of much of the Zoo's artwork possible.
