CONSERVATION LEADERSHIP AWARDS President Toni Preckwinkle, with the Steering Committee for the

which received the Edith Rockefeller McCormick Partnership Award
On October 3, the Board of Trustees and Women’s Board

of the Zoo hosted the 20 annual Conservation Leader-
ship Awards Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.
Approximately 250 guests attended the fundraiser that
grossed nearly $335,000.
The annual dinner recognized the following recipients
who share the Zoo’s mission by inspiring conservation
leadership, engaging the community with wildlife, and
leading the charge in animal advocacy and welfare:
• The George B. Rabb Conservation Medal was
presented to Dr. Jan Ramer, senior vice president
of animal care and conservation at the Columbus Zoo
and Aquarium and The Wilds, for her conservation
work with Gorilla Doctors and her commitment to
veterinary medicine.
• The Corwith Hamill Lifetime Achievement Conser-
vation Award was presented to the Christopher and
Schueler families for their leadership and dedication
to Brookfield Zoo Chicago.
• The Edith Rockefeller McCormick Partnership Award was given to
members of the Steering Committee and Public Campaign Committee
for the Vote Yes Campaign, which encouraged Cook County residents
to “vote yes” on a referendum for a small property tax increase to fund
projects that protect our wildlife and support clean water sources,
air quality, and the maintenance of public lands.
Doris Christopher received the Corwith
Hamill Lifetime Achievement Conservation
Award on behalf of the Christopher and
Schueler families from William C. Kunkler III,
deputy chair, Brookfield Zoo Chicago Board Dr. Jan Ramer received the George B. Rabb
of Trustees Conservation Medal from Dr. Michael J. Adkesson,
president & CEO, Brookfield Zoo Chicago
