Browser software

What is browser software?

Short for web browser, a browser is a software

application used to locate, retrieve and display content on the world

wide web, including webpages, images, video and other files. As a

client/server model, the browser is the client run on a computer or

mobile device that contacts the web server and requests information.
The web server sends the information back to the browser which

displays the results on the internet-enabled device that supports a

browser.

Examples for browser software: -

1. Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer (IE) is a product from software giant

Microsoft. This is the most commonly used browser in the
universe. This was introduced in 1995 along with windows 95

launch and it has passed Netscape popularity in 1998.

2. Google Chrome

This web browser is developed by google

and its beta version was first released on

September 2, 2008 for Microsoft windows.
Today, chrome is known to be one of the most

popular web browser with its global share of more than 50%.
