The paid-to-closed ratio was higher for radiology claims (28
percent) than all other healthcare specialties combined (27
percent). This means there was a greater likelihood that a
claim would be paid to close it than with all other specialties
combined. The resolution of these claims was either reached
by plaintiff’s verdict (0.5 percent), settlement (25.9 percent), or
Alternative Dispute Resolution (1.9 percent). Essentially, in three
out of ten claims, the patient received money.
