                         Develop a policy of positioning different lines on different

                          sides of the patient (consistent placement of lines may
                          make it easier for clinicians to correctly identify them and

                          connect them appropriately)

                         Label each infusion line with the name of the drug or

                          solution being infused

                         Do not force connections (if a connection is difficult to

                          make, that is if it requires a lot of effort, chances are it

                          should not be made)
