SVMIC Risk Reduction Series: Communication
PART TWO
Now we will shift our attention and identify some potential risks
associated with the most commonly-used forms of electronic
media in healthcare today, beginning with privacy and security
concerns. This course is not intended to be a comprehensive
tutorial on HIPAA or privacy laws. However, to provide an
accurate discussion of the risks and potential pitfalls associated
with electronic media, it will be necessary to discuss certain
aspects of HIPAA, primarily the Security Rule and the Privacy

electronic health records as these topics are covered in separate
SVMIC online courses.
