Guardians of the 7th Signal
Battalion,
When we first set foot on the grounds
of Group Centre Khatkhati in March
2024, we were met with desolation—
crumbling barracks, overgrown
fields, and a silence that echoed the
weight of the task ahead. Yet, in that
barren landscape, we saw not an
end, but a beginning. Today, as I reflect on our journey chronicled
in Rising from the Dust, I am filled with profound pride and humility
at what we have built together.
This battalion’s story is not one of chance, but of choice. The
choice to rise when infrastructure failed us. The choice to unite
when obstacles divided. The choice to lead when the path was
unclear. From the early days of scrubbing filth from Type-II
quarters to battling power outages and bureaucratic inertia, every
challenge became a crucible for our resolve.
To the officers and jawans who turned rubble into refuge: Your
sweat built more than barracks and offices—it forged an
unbreakable brotherhood. When IG NEZ and IG Jorhat witnessed
your determination during their pivotal visit, they saw not just a
unit, but a movement. When Commandant Vinay Kumar Tiwari
rallied for resources, he did so with the weight of your collective
spirit behind him. And when Diwali lights first illuminated our
transformed campus, they lit a beacon of hope for every CRPF unit
that follows in our footsteps.
Our achievements—functional workshops, training centres, and
the pride of a self-reliant mess—are monuments to your
