   About Crossroads:
Our mission is to use a collaborative approach to revolutionize the pantry distribution model through food equity research, client-centered services, and community partner engagement. Our vision is to strengthen families by building nutrition-stable communities. Our solution to food insecurity elevates consistent access to nutritious food through a ve-point food equity model, engaging low-income households and under-resourced communities through a journey to reach food and nancial security.
History: Crossroads Community Services
Crossroads' roots, deeply intertwined with the community, trace back to 1983 when volunteers at First United Methodist Church, Dallas (FUMC) selessly provided lunches and gently used clothing to individuals experiencing homelessness. This spirit of community service led to establishing a small food pantry in the church and initiating other outreach programs. In 1998, the community's support was further demonstrated when First Presbyterian Church, Dallas, invited FUMC to share their new 7,000-square-foot ministry building. This signicant step allowed us to serve more people better.
In 2005, Crossroads hit a distribution milestone of one million pounds of food. We then pioneered the Hub and Spoke model to ensure a consistent supply of nutritious groceries to underserved areas, providing our Community Distribution Partner Program framework. This model has been incorporated into North Texas Food Bank's regional distribution strategy, with Crossroads as one of the two prominent redistribution organizations.
In 2011, we embarked on a signicant journey of food equity research in collaboration with esteemed economic and public health research partners from the University of Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The studies we have pursued through this collaboration have deepened not only our understanding but also that of the community regarding the intricate connections among household nances, nutrition, and health in the lives of those we serve.
