After Daressy, 1902.
His name, M3j-ḥ r-prj, means “Lion-on-the-battle-ground”,
probably the name he was given – or chose - as a foreigner at the
King’s court, to allude to his aptitudes and competence.
He bears the title of “Standard Bearer to the Right of the king”
and is also referred to as “Companion of the King”.
Last, one should perhaps count among the tasks that Maherpra
was involved with, that of leading the dogs of the Pharaoh on a
leash and taking care of them. The presence of 2 leather dog
collars in his funerary equipment seem to lean in favor of this
hypothesis. This would be then about the dogs of Amenhotep II
or/and his successor Thutmose IV.
