King City’s Dog Tales is a
World-renowned Dog Sanctuary
Lucy was an abused and	malnourished dog.	When	Rob Scheinberg found her at the Miami Dade Animal Services Shelter, she was about to be euthanized. Rob wanted to bring her to the Dog Tales, the animal sanctuary he and his wife Danielle founded in King City, north of Toronto, but she was too sick too travel. He had the dog boarded until she was stronger and then brought her to the sanctuary. Soon after arriving at Dog Tales, Lucy was adopted by a loving family.
Milo was being raised to be slaughtered for meat for a Dog Meat Festival. e Humane Society International saved Milo and 62 other dogs. Milo soon arrived at Dog Tales and was adopted by a family. Homer was another dog saved from the Dog Meat Festival and brought to Dog Tales. Homer was so traumatized by the cruelty he experienced, he was scared of strangers. He needed a special family and through Dog Tales he found one.
Danielle Scheinberg was brought to tears when she visited a shelter in Israel and saw it was rat-infested and overcrowded with 250 dogs. Danielle bought the shelter and the dogs. She had 25 dogs that could travel flown to Dog Tales. Another 90 dogs were sent to shelters in Israel where she knew they would be cared for. When the remaining 150 dogs were well enough to travel they were brought to Dog Tales.
ese are some of stories of dogs rescued by Rob and Danielle Scheinberg shared in the media coverage on the Dog Tales’ website (www.dogtales.ca). eir work is so inspiring that in 2018 the extraordinary stories of dogs Danielle
and Rob rescued became a television series called Dog Tales Rescue produced by Bell Media Studios on Gusto. e 10-episode, half-hour series was so successful it was renewed for a second season. When Rob and Danielle got married in 2013, they had been involved in animal rescue for years. After they were married they decided the best way for them to help animals in need was to open
their own animal sanctuary.
At the time they lived in Israel and they decided they wanted to buy a farm in Canada where they could get a lot of land for the animals they wanted to rescue. In 2014 they bought a former horse arena in King City and founded Dog Tales. It has become a world- renowned dog rescue and horse sanctuary. It is home to 150 dogs.
Rob and Danielle renovated the property to be a luxurious kennel - nothing like other animal shelters. At Dog Tales, dogs sleep on custom-made furniture and are free to wander on the property.
