EDITOR’S MESSAGE
The year is almost over and wow, time has flown by! This year has been so crazy
but also incredibly memorable. My 3 years at Kingsway have been jam packed with
amazing memories that will honestly last a life time. I’ve decided that an appropriate
theme for this yearbook would be, Then and Now. This theme represents the journey
it took to get us to where we are today.
I’d like to thank all those who have helped me make this yerbook possible. I greatly
appreciate all your help and encouragement! I’d like to especially thank Mr. Bayer
for being patient with me when explaining how to create this book and to my dad for
helping me with the layouts.
I hope that this yearbook allows you to look back at this year and see how far you’ve
come and remind you of the incredible journey ahead that God has planned for you.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I love studying history. What I enjoy most about it is how it helps me to understand the current world I live
in. It is by looking back at the “then” that brings the “now” into focus. It is through that knowledge one is
able to discern how what happened back “then” explains what we see happening “now” in the present. It
often answers the question “Why?” Not only that, but it can give you a glimpse into the future, because,
often, if people do not make different choices, we see history repeating itself.
For us, this same principle applies. As an educator, one of the things we learn in psychology class when it
comes to students is that past behavior is a good predictor of future performance. What that means is that
if you were able to see how someone handled a situation in the past, back “then”, you could reasonably pre-
dict their present behavior when they face the same set of circumstances in the “now.” In some cases, this
could be kind of scary. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
God has given us some great tools to be able to help with the “then” and “now” in our lives. Firstly, he has
made us our own person agents; we have free will, the ability to make choices. Secondly, he has given us
the ability to remember, so we have the knowledge of prior circumstances. And thirdly, when we use the
first two, we are able to change. You need to remember that.
As you move on in your life, you need to realize that your “now” is going to become your “then”, and it is
going to happen sooner than you think, and your life is going to be shaped by the choices you make - your
“then” is going to affect your “now”, your history is going to affect your future. Use the tools God has given
you wisely, so together with Him, your “now” will be as happy as your “then”, whenever that may have been.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future.”
