                   crate training tips

         # 1
                          Make it comfy

Make your dog’s crate into a comfy den using warm, snuggly blankets.

Make sure your crate is big enough for your dog to stand up, turn around
and lie out flat when fully grown to ensure its comfortable. You might want
to consider a little extra space for bowls and toys when purchasing.

         # 2 Use food and chew toys

Feeding your dog in the crate will help create a calming, positive association
with being inside the crate. Chew toys like a Kong, stuffed and frozen, give

your dog something to do while relaxing in the crate.
         # 3 Leave the Door Open

Start by leaving the crate door open and letting
your dog walk in and out as they please. Use lots of
praise and reward when they choose to go into the
                          crate.

         # 4 Play crate games

Crate games make your dog’s crate a fun place to
be and help to make sure that your dog doesn’t
just associate the crate with you leaving the home.

         # 5 Extend crate time gradually

Start by just shutting the door for a few seconds and work up at a slow
pace until you can leave the room, then leave the house. Try to make sure

you let them out before any whining, so that they don’t learn to whine to
                          get let out.
