three litters, Dew produced title holders in days was winning the CC first time out as a
each litter namely Ch Hundwith Dewpoint,
Sh Ch Hundwith Duty to Sireva JW and Ch
Hundwith Toggle JW.
Dewpoint, Duty and Toggle were the next
generation who I campaigned very successfully.
I consider myself very fortunate that I managed
to make up all three to Show Champions and
the icing on the cake was Dewpoint and Toggle
becoming FULL Champions. Lots of blood,
sweat and tears go into making a Full Champion
and I would say having owned three, this is one
of my proudest achievements in the breed. Duty
was a keen worker; however luck was never on
his side when it came to his SGWC. At the last
one we attempted, we weren’t able to find any
game to be shot and retrieved – and one of the
judges wanted to go home – so he missed it but
only by a whisker!
Duty was an influential sire and was declared
TOP STUD 2018. He has Show Champion
and other CC winning offspring to his credit but
the most notable would have to be Ch Sireva
Skype who was TOP PUPPY 2014 and the
breeds youngest ever full Champion. Skype has
21 CC’s to her credit.
Toggle is my best working bitch, her hunting and
pointing is so stylish to watch I could watch her
all day! Toggle produced Hundwith Giggle and
Sh Ch Hundwith McLaren who is the love of
my life and doesn’t really need any introduction.
Mclaren has 12 CC’s and was TOP PUPPY
2016. One of McLaren’s most astonishing

precocious six month old puppy – a day I will
never forget! He has been used at stud with
success producing Sh Ch offspring for both
the UK’s Top kennels in the breed – one of
which was BOB at Crufts 2020 – a very proud
moment! One of the most satisfying things about
anyone using one of your dogs at stud is when
they can produce well for others! Andrew Brace
once quoted about McLaren that winning with
a dog is wonderful but contributing to a breed
by producing winners shows the true worth of a
dog! I was very humbled by this comment and
it has stuck in my mind ever since. I feel very
fortunate to have had McLaren and Duty who
have both flown the flag for my small kennel and
have produced well for others! Other notable
dogs I have bred/owned are Sh Ch Hundwith
Chortle with Hookwood, Hundwith Vanilla Ice
(AI) – CC winner, SA Ch Hundwith Volante,
Hundwith Giggle (CC and RCC winner) and Sh
Ch Rutilus Esuberate for Hundwith.
A milestone in the breed for me was when I was
asked to judge and give my first set of CC’s in
the breed at Border Union 2020. Unfortunately,
due to COVID, this didn’t happen but I live in
hope it might happen one day!
Moving forward I hope we can get back to some
sort of normality soon but I have to say the dogs
at home have been a god send throughout a
difficult 2020.
My future plans would be to carry on producing
healthy happy dogs who possess the good looks
and brains they require to do the job they were
bred to do. We are lucky in that the breed hasn’t
seen a divide in working and showing dogs and
long may this continue!
I have had great mentors over the years and
you all know who you are. If I could give one
bit of advice to someone coming into the breed
it would be to listen to your peers and respect
what they are telling you. Too many people
seem to be instant experts having not served
any apprentice! I’d like to think I have now
served my apprentice and consider myself a
custodian for our wonderful breed!
