Some other wonderful gifts and contributions for the Ones are that, in Best Self, they are really generally concerned about making things better, especially for the people they care about. They truly strive to improve. They are able to really see the potential in people and situations and they are willing to put forth whatever it takes to turn that potential into reality which is a marvelous gift. They don’t settle for the status quo.
However, when Ones move into Shadow, a concern for making things better can turn into pushing people too hard and measuring them against unrealistic standards. It is important to note that the standards that Ones in Shadow use are generally not universal standards, they’re their own standards and they uphold them very strongly. Sometimes they interfere in helping people do things better or right, but they just don’t back off, and there’s a lack of acceptance sometimes. They miss appreciating the good, they’re hyper focused on what more can be done or how it can be done better, and if you’re on the receiving end of

that, it’s sometimes nice to get a little stroke or a pat on the back for the good things you’ve done even though there may be further to go along the path. A One in Shadow is always looking where you can be and has forgotten to give the okay and the approval and the validation for what you’ve done and what you’ve accomplished so far, and on the receiving end sometimes it feels like complaints.
Ones in Best Self are extremely passionate. They become intensely involved in whatever they value, what they believe in. They put their heart and their soul into their endeavors and do things for the most part for the most honorable of reasons. They’re generally not in it for the kudos. They generally don’t do things for the image it projects, although they love to get a thank you as everybody does. However, thanks and kudos are generally not their driver.
However, when they move into Shadow, that passion can go to extreme and they can become over-zealous about what they believe, closed to other points of view, and act like they can’t be wrong. They’ve
got all the answers, and Ones in Shadow are known to not even consider alternatives other than what they see. They see a problem, they come up with a solution and that’s the only one-- it’s the right one. They forget to even ask and get input from other people if in fact there’s another way. It’s like they’re living with blinders on. They have a hard time stepping back and become less passionate about things when sometimes they really need to.
Ones have a very interesting form of anger. They generally don’t throw tantrums or scream at the top of their lungs. It’s usually a lower level, kind of under-the-surface anger or irritation that comes out in the form of disapproving looks, condescending tones, pursed lips, things like that. Their body language speaks volumes and if you’re on the receiving end, you know it’s there.
Ones really want to make right, correct and good decisions. They want to know that the outcomes of their decisions and their actions are the most positive they can be. They don’t do things frivolously and they
