THE DETAILS ABOUT PRINT® 1
Major PRINT® Ones are real visionary people. They see things simply as being the best it can be. They home in on the potential and where something can be and, if they have anything to do with it, they’re going to take it to that place. They have great morality, sense of perception, they have a sense of higher purpose and what they do for the most part is set very high standards and they live by these standards. They hope others are going to live by those standards and they try to enforce them. They try to maintain a level of excellence at all times. The unconscious motivator of the One, which really drives their behavior, is for things to be perfect, correct and right. They seek to avoid making mistakes or being wrong. This is the driving force behind much of what they feel and think and do.

Ones in Best Self are precise and detailed. They have a really highly developed inner critic and feel a great deal of commitment to excellence, which is a wonderful thing. However, this same person in Shadow can become overly critical, become totally preoccupied with what’s wrong or what’s missing, lose their ability to appreciate the goodness that’s there and start to seek perfection at the expense of people’s feelings.
Ones in Shadow are vexed by the imperfect world. And the more imperfect that they see it, the more overly perfectionistic and nitpicky and compulsive they become. This creates a vicious cycle because the more they put this perfectionism on other people, the more nervous they make those people, which makes them make more mistakes and so you start the downward spiral. So, this overly perfectionist behavior becomes a myth or is built on a myth as a deception that the more nitpicky and perfectionistic they are, the more they’re going to get
things being done perfectly. Maybe in the short term that happens but in the long run it generally does not.
Another interesting thing about Ones has to do with their sense of integrity and their principled nature. In Best Self, Ones have impeccable ethics, they do what they say they’re going to do, they come through on their promises, they will rarely or never cut a corner to get something faster. They’re usually well mannered, they follow the rules, and they evaluate other people, in addition to themselves, by the level of ethical behavior they exhibit.
In Shadow, a One’s integrity and principle becomes self-righteousness. Ones can become preachy and condescending about their beliefs and what they feel is the correct thing or the right way to do something. They can become somewhat obsessed with what we call their “should” behavior where Ones are ruled by what they feel that people and they, themselves, “should” do. They will sometimes even suppress their own feelings about what they might want to do.
