Where? My Little Eyes
Just an innocent little juvenile, My little eyes see,
Far off from her country, The women being broken in body and mind,
Waiting to be accepted, The woe of being denied opportunities of any kind,
Waiting to play with the boys, This disparity that starts at birth,
Waiting for people to think its normal. Continues throughout life,
Even the laws and policies fail to uphold a girl’s right,
She is so naïve, Oh! How we fail every time,
So adorable but frightened inside, Violating their rights,
Keeps her head down low and never meets their eyes, How we’re told to not be too ambitious,
Petrified to walk, Or to be too bright.
And petrified to talk.
My little eyes dream,
Her lips were jammed shut, A world that loves its one half as much as the other,
Her neck was bent, stuck, Where challenges are met as we work together to break barriers,
Her eyes were sore, Equal opportunity for all in a just and equal society,
And her face was pale. To help them grow and live with dignity.
Swarmed with butterflies when she met her heart,
Her broken heart that shattered long ago, Kopal Dokania
Picking the pieces, off she went, MYP -3
From a distance she saw the dent.
The bird of hope never flew,
Its paper wings were just too fragile,
They tore in the fountain of her tears.
She looked at herself in the broken mirror,
Heard a voice,
“Come find me,”
The word equality seemed to be playing hide and seek,
But only, there was no seek.
