      CAM EGAN
Cam joined the Latin community in ninth grade and joined the cross coun- try team that fall. He met new friends and built a cardiovascular foundation, so he was ready to go back to his club swimming roots and join the Latin swim team that winter. His favorite event is one a lot of swimmers avoid – the 100 butterfly – and he also performs well in the sprint freestyles. Cam is a natural competitor and shows up on game day. Ready with a big smile and encourage- ment for his teammates, Cam enjoys cultivating the relationships he’s built through sports. He is also a member of the Executive Student Council, the Big Brother program and National Archives.
EVAN GOODGEE
Evan joined Latin swimming in the
8th grade and qualified for NCISAAs in the 100 backstroke his first year on the varsity team. The following year, he added a state cut in the 100 free. His success was due to his attention to detail and his willingness to do extra. If we had the pool time, Evan would be the swimmer staying after practice daily to work on some aspect of his swimming. He regularly asks to try one more start or have a particular skill watched and evaluated. Evan’s work in the Strength Center has paid off with powerful pushes off the wall, big improvements in his underwater skill, and his ability to catch the water on his backstroke. Evan’s soft-spoken, steady leadership led to his selection as a SALT representative for swim- ming.
MATTHEW GRAF
Matt joined the Latin family in the 10th grade and he says he received such a warm welcome from the swim team that he hoped to do the same for others new to the school and the team. Matt’s favorite events are the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM, and he has placed
in the top five in those events in the conference and in the top ten at states the past two years. He can also be a threat in the sprint freestyles, adding
to the team’s depth and making Matt
a major contributor at every level of competition. His quiet determination, consistent, high effort, and attention to technique really helped raise the bar for his teammates. Before the season began, Matt said he hoped to motivate his teammates to do their best and help win meets – he has accomplished that and much more.
