A Lower Cost and Higher Performance Solution for Radiology RCM
ICD-10 is a reality now. Imaging practices consider cost, compliance accuracy and turnaround time (TAT) when choosing from the three primary choices for coding: in-house coders, Natural Language Pro- cessing (NLP), or offshore coders. Canopy Partners, a privately held healthcare tech- nology company, commissioned internal and external audits of their coding. The results led to a switch in 2013 from NLP to an offshore Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firm coupled with in-house code auditors. In the first year, costs came down, live coders proved more accurate and compliant, and TAT averages became 24 hours faster.
