GRACE PINTO
Managing Director, Ryan International Group of
Institutions
I n 1976 when Grace Pinto and her husband Augustine promoted the Fr. Agnelo Primary
School, Malad West, Mumbai, she entertained a modest public spirited ambition to provide
affordable English-medium K-12 education to suburban Mumbai’s growing middle class. Since then
the number of K-12 schools managed by the duo and other members of the family has multiplied
to 137 established in 40 cities of 18 states of the Indian Union and two in the Middle East. Currently,
these schools grouped under the corporate umbrella of the Ryan International Group of Institutions
(RIGI), have an aggregate enrolment of 270,000 students and 16,000 teachers on their muster rolls.
Even as RIGI has been launching two much-needed affordably-priced English-medium schools
annually for the past 43 years, the management has maintained high academic, co-curricular and
sports education standards. In the latest EducationWorld India School Rankings 2019-20, RIGI day
schools are ranked #1 in five cities/towns and 12 are ranked among the Top 10. Moreover last year,
RIGI was conferred the Best Education Brand 2018 award of the Economic Times and included
among the World’s 100 Greatest Brands at the India UAE Business & Social Forum 2018.
“With God’s blessing we have been able to reach high-quality, affordable English-medium edu-
cation to India’s educationally neglected middle class in tier II and III cities. As we expanded our
footprint, we have also embraced change and incorporated modern IT-enabled pedagogies into
our schools to equip children with 21st century skills required to succeed in the global digital econ-
omy. With the sustained support of our dedicated teachers, students and parents, the RIGI family
has succeeded in spreading the light of education across the country,” says Grace Pinto, managing
director and driving force behind the RIGI chain of 137 English-medium highly-reputed K-12 schools.
