HEbest of all Penance is that which God sends us. Acts of selfdenial which we freely choose are precious in the sight of God. But, far more precious are those sufferings which we have notchosen and which have come to us unasked. The chalice of sufferingwhich Christ drank was bitter and unattractive. He asked His HeavenlyFather that it might pass from Him. %u201cYet,%u201d He added, %u201cnot My Will butThine be done.%u201d To accept God%u2019s Will, without complaint, is the greatest contribution that any Christian can make to the cause of world peace.
