Suffering in union with Christ is our greatest treasure. It is worth more than the whole world. The thoughts of Jesus are not our thoughts, nor are His ways our ways. He offers to our lips a chalice as bitter as our weak human nature can support. Let us not refuse to take this chalice prepared for us by the Hand of Jesus. We must see life in its true light. It is an instant between two eternities. We must suffer in peace. Peace is not the same as joy. To suffer in peace all that is needed is to will all that God wills. It costs God so much to give us the bread of affliction, but He knows that it is the only means to prepare us to know Him as He knows Himself -to become ourselves divine. How much time we spend wishing that this were not the only means to acquire divine nature? This is to wish that God and His Love were not supernatural and we would not have to grow at all to receive Him. Even if it were possible to attain eternal salvation on a path of ease and comfort, could true lovedesire that path when it knows that Christ chose the path of the Cross? This is irreconcilable with True Love.Suffering is an unsurpassed schoolof True Love. It is the living language of love and the great teacher ofhumankind. Suffering is to give all andsacrifice all for LOVE. It is throughthe lives of the Saints that we can penetrate into the depths of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Here isGod%u2019s great hidden treasure! Here isthe Heart that was always ready to receive suffering, conserve and bearthat suffering so that She could becomeour Mother in the order of grace.
