Next, you are going to play Simon Says!
Your teacher will ask two of your classmates to pass to the front.
She will toss a coin.
The one who wins will be Simon.
If you are Simon you have to say “Simon says” and an action, for example, “Simon Says stand up”. Continue saying action verbs.
If Simon says a verb without saying “Simon says” the person that does the action loses.
Objects of Verbs
Action verbs may be transitive or intransitive.
Transitive verbs: A transitive verb is an action that has a direct object or an indirect object. Common Transitive Verbs
Direct object receives the action of the verb. (What receives the action?)
Example:
Hassan wrote a message. (What did Hassan write? A message) message is a direct object
Indirect object tells to whom or what, or for whom or what the action of the verb is done.
Example:
Hassan wrote a message to his wife. (To whom did Hassan write the message? To his wife) wife is the indirect object
Intransitive verbs don’t take a direct object or indirect object. Intransitive verbs are followed by an adjective, adverb, or preposition.
