Linking Verbs
A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence to a noun, a pronoun, or an
adjective in the predicate. Common Linking Verbs
Examples:
Hassan is a camel driver.
Ali becomes old enough to work. She was brave.
A noun or pronoun that follows a linking verb and renames the subject is called predicate nominative.
Examples:
Meek-eye is a camel. Ali is Hassan’s son.
The camel driver is him.
An adjective that follows a linking verb and describes the subject is called predicate adjective.
Examples:
Meek-eye is big.
Hassan is rich.
Ali was brave and strong.
