• A verb is a word that indicates an action, an event, or a state of being.
• The verb is part of the predicate of a sentence.
The three main types of verbs are action, linking and helping verbs.
Action verbs are something a person or thing does. It can be physical or mental.
ExAMPLES:
He always creeps round by the wall.
He found a little wisp of grass floating.
Linking verbs are verbs that connect (link) the subject to information about that subject.
• Linking verbs do not describe an action.
• The most common linking verbs are forms of the verb to be:
Is, am, are, was, were, been, and being
