• Other common linking verbs are appear, become, feel, seem, smell, sound and taste.
Some of these verbs can sometimes be linking verbs and other times action verbs it depends on how you use it in a sentence.
ExAMPLES:
Rikki seems angry.
linking verb
He felt proud of himself. linking verb
Rikki felt the cold ground under his paws. action verb
Helping verbs are used with the main verb to tell about an action.
• Helping verbs are always followed by a main verb.
• In some sentences helping verbs and main verbs are separated by other words.
• The common helping verbs are:
am, are, is, was, were, be, been, being
have, has, had
do, does, did
may, must, might
shall, will
can, could, would, should
ExAMPLES:
