Here are some helpful rules:
• We use singular indefinite pronouns (each, either, neither, nobody, anything, everyone, everybody, anyone, anybody, someone, and somebody) with singular verbs.
ExAMPLES:
Everyone wants to win the lottery.
singular verb
Nobody wants the losing number. singular verb
• Plural indefinite pronouns (several, few, both, many) go with plural verbs. ExAMPLES:
Many winners are excited. plural verb
Both losers are sad. plural verb
• Some indefinite pronouns (some, any, none, all, most) can go with singular or plural verbs depending on how you use them in a sentence.
     ExAMPLES:
Some of the cakes are gone.
plural verb
