• A subject complement is a word or word group that completes the meaning of a linking verb and identifies or modifies the subject.
Examples:
He was poor

He became weak and faint.
Subject Linking Verb Subject Complement
There are two kinds of subject complements the predicate nominative and the predicate adjective.
PrediCaTe noMinaTive
• The predicate nominative is the noun or pronoun that is in the predicate and identifies the subject.
PrediCaTe adjeCTive
• The predicate adjective is an adjective that is in the predicate and modifies the subject.
