Writing Workshop. Writing a Historical Narrative
You already know, that a narrative text is a story about fictional or real events. The word derives from the Latin verb “narrare” which means to recount.
• A historical narrative, is a story about real historical events.
• You can add fictional characters and imagine they are part of an important historical
event. (Even you can be a character)
Examples:
World War II Discovery of America Mexican Revolution
• A good narrative will transport readers into the time and place of the world portrayed by the writer.
• You can begin by writing a topic sentence to introduce your narrative.
• It is important to add as many details as you feel you need, so the reader will not only read the story but feel like he is part of it.
