PREWRITING:
Choose an important historical event you are interested in.
Research details about the historical event, and write down the ones you found most interesting.
Sometimes it is easier to write questions first.
Examples:
What happened?
When did it happen?
Why did it happen?
How did this event affect history?
Imagine you are living in that time and place.
Add fictional characters. Try to interview your character and invent interesting answers.
Examples:
Where were you when __________ happened? How did it affect your life?
How were you involved?
Think of who your audience will be, remember it has to be appealing to them.
WRITING:
Reread the information you gathered.
Choose the details you will use to write your narrative.
Start writing your narrative by introducing the main character and describing the time and place.
Continue writing the details you chose.
Remember to use time order in your sentences, you can use words such as first, next, last, then and before.
