4. Why do you think, that MLK says that even after 100 years of emancipation, the African American community is still not free?
Because his people are still being treated as second-class citizens. They are still considered inferior and are oppressed and harassed. Even though they were proclaimed to be free by the Emancipation Proclamation 100 years earlier, things had not changed much for them.
5. MLK uses many analogies to make his points stronger, more powerful and vivid. Draw a picture of how you perceive his analogy: “my people live on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity”.
