Language. Adverbs
• Adverbs are words that modify verbs, an adjective or another adverb.
• They describe the verb.
• Some adverbs are formed by adding -ly at the end of an
adjective.
Examples:
The servant anxiously waited for the princess. (Modifies a verb) This story is terribly confusing. (Modifies an adjective)
He did it really well. (Modifies an adverb)
• An adverb will often answer the questions when, where or how.
Examples:
He had carefully locked the door. (How?) The search for the ring began today. (When?) He works nearby. (Where?)
