The ceiling took four years to complete, but not without a few problems. The artist was famous for his bad temper; he didn’t like people criticizing his work, not even the pope. One of his biggest critics was a close member of the church Biagio da Cesena who did not agree with some of his paintings. Michelangelo responded by painting him in one of the scenes with large donkey’s ears and a snake around him.
Today, millions of people travel from all over the world just to see his masterpiece.
