DID YOU KNOW? Monocultures of exotics destroy the diversity of
vegetation and structure in plant communities that many birds
require. In contrast to a multi-layered forest, a buckthorn woods
forms a dense mass of shrubs of uniform height, shading out
herbaceous species, other shrubs and even tree samplings.
