So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;

male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27, KJV.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed

into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis

2:7, KJV.

In Genesis 1:27, God created man and in Chapter 2:7 He formed man.

Creation and formation are not the same in meaning. Creation means the

act of bringing something into existence - something which did not exist

before.

Formation means the act of moulding or framing something into a

shape.

The word “create” in Genesis 1:27 is “Bara” in Hebrew meaning - to

bring into existence something which never existed. While the word

“Form” in Gen 2:27 is “Yastar” in Hebrew, meaning to fashion or frame.
