     TOLEDO BEND LAKE COUNTRY

ZWOLLE TAMALE TRAIL BRINGS GENERATIONS TOGETHER IN ZWOLLE, LA.
Along the banks of Toledo Bend Lake, sits the town of Zwolle, where many families make and sell homemade tamales from their homes and
stores. The tradition of making hand daubed tamales from the meat of a freshly butchered hog and hand ground masa has been passed
down from generation to generation. Holidays, weddings, and family “get-togethers” are very special, and cooking tamales surrounded by
family makes it even more so. Tamales are a perfect portable treat, warm and spicy, made by the dozens, with the help of family and friends, in
an atmosphere of celebration and anticipation. They can also be frozen and reheated later— even microwaved. Anytime you make a stop on
the Zwolle Tamale Trail, the first thing you will smell coming from the windows are aromatic tamales cooking. If your mouth is watering now,
you can visit ToledoBendLakeCountry.com to download the Tamale Trail Brochure and for information about the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta, and
all the other things you can do while visiting the Toledo Bend area.
