     More courses along the Louisiana Golf Trails are   Baton Rouge Area
     within an easy drive of Baton Rouge, making the   Great River Road Area
     Capital City a great hub for a golf vacation to this
     part of Louisiana. Santa Maria is a course in Baton
     Rouge proper and an original Robert Trent Jones Sr.
     design. The course was built on 150 acres of rolling
     terrain, featuring 15 lakes and two natural water-
     ways. Strategically placed sand and grass bunkers,   Copper Mill is a Louisiana Golf Trails site located
     rolling Bermuda fairways and ancient oaks provide   in the suburb of Zachary near the Baton Rouge

                                         Another exciting destination on the  Louisiana
                                         Golf Trails is Carter Plantation in Springfield,
                                         north of LaPlace and due east of Baton Rouge.
                                         This course is LSU alum, David Toms’ first signa-
                                         ture design. The PGA TOUR player designs like he
                                         plays, tough but fair. It’s the 86 strategically placed
                                         bunkers and water hazards on 11 holes that make
                                         for a challenging round of golf. For convenience,
                                         the Villas at Carter Plantation offer 42 spacious
                                         rooms and six fully-furnished villas for the perfect
                                         overnight accommodations on the  Louisiana
     Carter Plantation on the Audubon Golf Trail  Golf Trails.
