Printing Industry Trends
Customers expect more every day and their needs are changing at an exponential pace. Successful industries are looking ahead to meet their increasing demands and the printing industry is
no exception.
According to the 2019 Global Commercial Printing Industry - Market Research Report (IBISWorld.com). The printing industry in America is worth $812b and there’s been an average growth rate of 2.8% yearly between 2014 and 2019. This is only possible because the industry is also providing better services that are aligned with its customer’s goals. Even with the growing trend of going paperless and growth of the internet.
The following are some of the Trends you will see more in 2020:
Expansion of on-demand printing
Traditional print shops can’t handle just one copy or a small run of a print piece because set-up and labour expenses are too high; however, digital printing capabilities make on- demand printing more cost-effective and efficient.
Faster Turn-around times
Customers are demanding faster service in pro of immediate gratification. Long are gone the days were customers had to wait 7 days for a printing service. Some more advanced print shops are expanding their portfolios of products with next day and even same day service.

Flexibility and Increased personalization
Fit to purpose is a trend, not one single product would be the single solution for every project. The demand for increased personalization continues to grow as technological printing advances create more project opportunities for individuals and businesses.
Printing pieces that include posters, flyers, invitations, and other materials would require specific customizations between each run or each copy.
3D Printing
3D printing has been a niche area even though it’s been available for several years. However 2020 and beyond would bring 3D printing more accessible for businesses and individuals. Still there is a considerable upfront investment but the future costs is becoming lower every year.
This is a summary of the most relevant trends you would see in 2020 as the printing industry is committed to continue being the partner of your businesses’ growth.
