WORLD & PEOPLE
The first impression
is never forgotten.
BY: DANIELA FERREIRA
Did you know that you only have 3 minutes to make a good first impression? This comes from your personal appearance, your
clothes, your body language, your manners, your perfume, your words, your smile and definitely your energy.
People relate to stories and sympathy for who you are and what you bring to the plate when they meet you. When you are getting ready to go meet someone have you ever thought the he colour you wear can actually make an impact and a good or bad first impression? Let me share with you that I can assure it will make difference of what people will think of you in the future even after building a relationship. Those first 3 minutes will never be forgotten.
It is important to choose the correct colour for the correct occasion.
Don't just choose a colour because you think it looks good on you, figure out what message it gives as different occasions require different kind of clothes and colours. Here are some examples to give you confidence and make you not only look good but you will project the right energy.
Court: The hard-edged, defensive combination of red and black or yellow and black will help keep at bay awkward questioning and other challenges of the courtroom.
Job Interview: The solidness of brown, maroon or navy blue is useful core colours in a suit. With the accent colour of cream in a shirt or accessory, this will present an image of reliability and dependability. A combination of purple, pink and cream is suited for an interview in retail, sales and advertising work.
Family Reunion: Apricot, apple-green and pale pink will help to nurture and calm the meeting as well as to encourage communication.
Birthdays: A happy occasion with guests is ensured when you wear a combination of imperial purple, violet, mauve and apricot or pink.
Weddings: Pastel colours bring out the emotions in people. Lilac helps to provide a balance to the emotions. Mid-range colours such as lavender, viridian, cobalt-blue and coral-pink befit such an emotionally charged occasion.
Christenings or Baptisms: A combination of purple and silver will help to lift the atmosphere and create a spiritual occasion.
Funerals: Sadness and sorrow are lifted by the combination of buttercup-yellow and violet, apricot, apple-green, maroon and silver.
Dying: Draped in a blanket of burgundy and gold or violet and gold encourages a deep connection of mind and soul.
Public Speaking: Aim for the colours to engage your audience, not distract it. Core colours such as maroon, navy blue and very deep purple give off a sense of authority.
When you are shopping for colour, keep this in mind: the colours you wear communicate messages to others and, in turn, prompt a response. We write stories and communicate with colours on the special occasions of your life, we do that with paper, with a card, and in your business you want to do it with a printed material that people, prospects and clients will never forget. Add value to who you are and what you represent, that is called“personalbranding”.
