 At the core of our needs as human beings are our needs for shelter and for community; and so, it is relevant to every person to know and understand the liveability of the place they
call home and to be able to compare it to other cities. Cue the Economist Intelligence Unit’s liveability index; this annual report measures and compares 140 global cities amongst five key categories- infrastructure, stability, education, healthcare, and culture and environment. These 5 factors should be top of mind for any individual interested in owning real estate because liveability correlates positively with stable and profitable housing markets. The same correlation
applies amongst nearly every other industry, so being aware of this index and searching for ways to capitalize from it and contribute to it is relevant for any business-oriented individual.
In the most recent edition of this report which was published in August, three Canadian cities came out in the top ten. Toronto tied for the 7th place spot, alongside Tokyo; and Vancouver and Calgary clinched 6th and 4th place respectively. According to this most recent report; the top 10 most liveable cities in the world are as follows:
