Winter Solstice Night Hike
The Winter Solstice is a celebration of the longest and darkest days turning to lighter days. Celebrate the longest night of the year with a campfire, night hike, and decorating a Yule log. Enjoy some cider or hot cocoa as you warm yourself around
a cozy campfire. This is a family-friendly event and the price is per attendee. Please preregister for this event.
Spring Migration Bird Walks
Spring migration season is here. A member of the Will County Audubon Society will be leading guided bird hikes around Pilcher Park and identifying spring migrants. Bring your binoculars or borrow ours. Come prepared for hiking on trails with potentially rough terrain. Please preregister for this event.

    Read the Storybook Trail and Craft
Join us for a guided hike on our Storybook Trail! We will read a story to you as you walk along the trail and then come inside to make a fun craft. The stories and crafts will be related to the current season.

Are you interested in exploring the hidden gems of Pilcher Park’s forest floor? This adult only wildflower hike allows you to get up close with the beautiful spring wildflowers that are native to our forest. Join us on a guided hike with a naturalist to learn facts and identification of our wildflowers. Like our ephemeral flowers, this program is short lived. Sign up today!

 Wizarding World and Magical Creatures fans – be sorted into your houses at Pilcher Park’s School of Magic, and help us solve a mystery in our Magical Forest! Listen to musical clues from your favorite wizarding movies; bring your sharpest senses, and quench your thirst for observing natural phenomena. One night only! No flashlights, please, but costumes are encouraged. Cost is per participating child. Registration is required. Dress for the weather.

Volunteer Opportunities
Pilcher Park Nature Center is starting a stewardship program to remove invasive plant species like buckthorn and honeysuckle in Pilcher Park.
